Inspired by Becky Sefton’s ‘What I am looking forward to this year’ post, this post is about a few of the sporting events I’m looking forward to over the next year.
International Rugby
I used to play rugby in my schools days and my wonderful girlfriend and I love watching Rugby, especially the international matches. There is good coverage on BBC of the internationals and we support England, Scotland and Wales. The French are incredible to watch, the same as New Zealand, South Africa, Ireland and many other teams.
Great excuse to get in some tortillas, make a dip and watch some great matches.
British Touring Car Championship
Every year my father and I often attend a BTCC event and recently my awesome girlfriend joins us. My girlfriends knowledge of the BTCC is impressive and we follow it via the good ITV coverage.
I prefer the BTCC to Fomula 1 and other motor sports. When attending the events my preferred racing tracks are Brands Hatch, Silverstone and Thruxton, especially as they are easier for us to reach. The tracks are shorter than F1 and there are three races throughout a day, mixed in with other motor racing championships.
NFL Superbowl
Again in my youth I used to play American football. I do prefer Rugby, but American football has its own unique personality and the BBC should have coverage of the Superbowl on the iplayer, as I won’t be staying up late on Feb 6th to watch live.
