This isn’t a guest post or a paid post! Having just shaved my beard off and removed a crazy amount of nose hair, I thought I would blog about the subject (as you do).
When you see blurry photos of supposed Yetis, they are in fact my lost holiday snaps! During my late teens I rocked lengthy sideburns and these days I occasionally grow a beard or a moustache during ‘Movember’.
This morning I shaved a beard off (second time this year) and used a nose hair trimmer. For many years I did hair removal the hard way, but not any more!
This post covers:
- How I used to remove hair.
- How I now shave a beard and trim my nose hair!
- The two battery powered trimmers I currently use.
What I used to do!
Let’s first of all look at my misguided time consuming bad habits of the past. When it came to removing hair, I would use nail scissors and patiently trim, and then if a beard I would shave. Sounds okay, right? Alas no! The whole process of removing a beard would take forever, often leave me bleeding and would use three disposable razors. With regard to the nose hair, although the scissors were always clean, I seriously doubt putting nail scissors up my nose was safe!
How I now remove a beard.
I use the cheap AA battery powered Walh Performer 5537-217 hair trimmer without any of its plastic extensions. It takes a few minutes to remove long strands of hair with the trimmer, and then I have a wet shave and only use one disposable razor. No bleeding, less time and a satisfactory result! The simple steps are:
- I use the hair trimmer to reduce the length of hair.
- I then have a wet shave with a disposable razor.
Other than the blade protector when not in use, I don’t use any of the plastic covers on the Wahl trimmer for different grades etc.

Embarrassingly when I somehow mentioned to my parents on a visit I was going to buy a nose trimmer, they both separately brought me one within a few hours. Kind of my parents, but perhaps I had an issue, I wasn’t aware of?!
Anyhow, I settled on the ‘Boots Grooming Solutions Hygienic Trimmer’, and it’s great! It tickles using it, and then afterwards I have to clean out my nose with tissue, but hey it works! The steps are:
- Gently tickle my nose with the hair trimmer.
- Sneeze out or gently remove bits of hair from my nostrils.
Let’s finish up this blog post.
Today I’m a clean shaven nostril hair shortened Yeti! Though the hair will quickly grow back.
Anyhow an embarrassing topic, but I hope someone finds it useful, whether it is a product to buy or changing a grooming habit, or perhaps a suggestion for a friend, partner or relative!
