A comic review on reading by candlelight! Sometimes a comic is just what is required, you don’t have to be a child to appreciate a comic. As long as the artwork is top quality, the storyline interesting, then I will consider.
So Huntress is a character part of the DC universe, indeed she resides in Gotham like the caped crusader himself, Batman. I knew nothing of Huntress’s background. This rough, tough femme fatale has appeared in other DC comics I’ve read, but was a standalone Huntress story worthy of a read?
‘Cry for Blood’ tells the background of her life. Why did she become a masked vigilante? What drives her? Tie this in with a current day plot that was mixed in nicely. Batman himself plays a very minor role in this comic book and hardly appears. These days I tend to stay away from Batman comics and this had the same dark and deep storyline feel. However it was a decent comic book and discovering her background was interesting.
Will this make me pick up other Huntress comics? Doubtful, but if I read the Batman, Robin, Catwomen, Nightwing series I would. For me personally for a one off read it was good, though not compelling enough to bring back to Gotham full time.
The artwork isn’t going to wow you, indeed the writing won’t either. I felt the storyline could and should of been better. This was not a game changing comic book, not one that left me thinking afterwards. It was just a decent read.
