I went for a haircut…

A great weight has been lifted from me… yes I finally went for a haircut. Last week I was looking like a yeti with a beard, and a hairstyle that firmly belonged to the 70s. Now I’m clean shaved and sporting a short haircut. Exciting as it might be (it isn’t) blogging about a haircut (it really isn’t that interesting at all), I wanted to blog about my vegetarian burgers and books adventure this morning (oh dear, sorry).

I said cheerio to the lovely lady who cut my hair (we had a pleasant conversation about henpecked men), and I ventured out into the sunshine and proceeded to head home, abruptly stopped and turned around glued to the pavement like a piece of unwanted gum. Those around me probably thought I had forgotten something important, say a baby in a pushchair (I don’t have children.. yet), or perhaps I had an urgent appointment… which in a sense I did, and it was with burgers!

Look out I was a man on a mission! I was on a march and nothing was going to stop me. Vegetarian burger mix brought (remembering for once to use my loyality card to claim points), something important was amiss! Of course, burger buns! Surely civilization as we know it would collapse, without burgers being firmly placed in a bun. So a detour later, buns brought, I decided to go stalk the book stacks at the library!

Now at home I have a pile of books waiting to be read, not forgetting a bundle of ebooks recently brought via Amazon. However I am a bookworm, and you just never know when a book is in need of your attention. Pages waiting to be appreciated, devoured and pondered. Even though I’ve hardly dented the current mountain of books at home.

A library tip for you fine folks is always to look at the returns. Never forget the epic book finding adventures of those who proceeded you, as they might have turned up a nugget of book gold or two. It is your duty as fellow library users to respect their efforts… screw that, it is every person for themselves, and you must beat the other vultures to the good books!

So as I found myself standing in the teenage section (I’m not a teenager) looking at fantasy and sci-fi books, which followed the travel, technology and general fiction sections, I tore myself away, worked the library kiosk like a pro (I didn’t), and headed home. Just under ten minutes in the library, is my library love waning?

My better half won’t even blink at the increased stack of books in our lounge, as she is long used to my book habit, which she has since adopted.

So that is the pointless story of my trip to the gents hairdressers and what followed. Do you think I should pop out to buy some socks later?
