Tracey over at Quiet Paws wrote a blog post about her 2010 Christmas presents (which all look amazing), so I thought I would blog about mine.
For me Christmas is about spending time with those you love and care about, helping others when possible and enjoying the time off. Receiving Christmas presents isnβt required, but lets face it, it is brilliant and I am always grateful.
As you probably know I am a devourer of books, so was delighted that along with t-shirts and chocolate, I was given books, books and books. My amazon wishlist was plundered and the bookcase is full.
It was a geeky collection of books, mainly time travel science fiction, but also a couple of Peter Mayleβs france related books and also a Tom Grace action book. Iβve already read one of my Christmas presents and am looking forward to reading them all.
You might know that I write reviews on the majority of books I read at the Raining Rabbits. So expect all the books to be reviewed on that blog over the coming months.
Oh yeahhh, that really looks like plenty of hours in different “worlds”. Brilliant. Love getting books even though this year I only got one. Nevermind. Thank you very much for sharing some of your gifts and have so much fun reading..imagine and…exploring through these pages.

Hi Linn,
What book were you given as a Christmas present? What genre is it?
I’ve enjoyed reading Time Travel sci-fi for years and have an impressive collection. The stories can be quite dramatic. Often trying to answer the ‘what if’s’. It’s fun entertainment and it is fun exploring those pages, worlds and imaginations of the authors.
It is great you love getting books also. It is a shame that so many others neglect books. π I love escaping into their worlds and discovering, learning and it is brilliant when the book makes me think and consider, especially after the last page is finished.
Cheers for stopping by and leaving a reply.
All the best
Andrew
Reading was simply THE BEST that “happened” to me as I was a child and the fact that my mum took me and my twinnie to get our first own Libary cards as we were 8 or 9 years old. It was so brilliant.
And no matter how often I moved into a different city, I always got myself a new libary card. π
True,I was also an escapee reader as kid or well, still.^^ If I am sick of the real world I go reading and enter Hogwarts or Narnia or The Shire. Different times are helpful too…like Jane Austens or the Brontee’s π
My Christmas book was a copy of Grimms fairy tale’s. Basicially 4 Stories, which were made into a comic. Very beautiful drawings.:)

Enjoy your Sunday afternoon and keep on reading!!

Hi Linn,
I started borrowing from the library at a young age also and it has made such a difference to my life. It is fantastic your Mum also took you to a library at such a young age.
I am the same, wherever I am, I become a member of the local library. I love libraries.
I love why you read and how you escape into different worlds. It is great when that happens and a book has that power. Wonderful that you like a wide selection of authors and also from different periods of history. π
I’ve never read the Grimms fairy tale’s, I really should one day. Thank you for leaving another response and hope you’ve had a great Sunday.
All the best
Andrew
I agree – receiving Christmas gifts is not an essential part of the festive season, but it sure is lovely! π
Just look at all those fantastic books!!! They should keep you busy for a while … I’m doing my best to read more this year, as it was something I didn’t do enough of last year.
It was lovely of you to share your gifts with the world!
Have a lovely day! π
Hi Tracey,
First of all I’ve been saddened to read about all the flood victims in Australia and how tough it has been for everyone, also pets such as your wonderful dog and life in general surviving and coping.
Back to the books, I hope you do manage to read more this year. I couldn’t help but notice your vegetarian recipe book gift! Any recipes standing out yet, asking to be made? Being vegetarian myself, I love such books.
After taking the photo I realised I had missed out a book. A Stephen Baxter one I’ve been meaning to read for years. I’ve already read one of my Christmas presents, but am now reading a library book which I borrowed before Christmas. I can’t wait to get back to my Christmas books though.
If you (or Linn who might see this reply also) ever feel like writing a guest post on Reading by Candlelight http://www.readingbycandlelight.com you are very welcome to.
Cheers for leaving a reply.
All the best and hope you and Lee both stay safe.
