It is amazing how things can go from okay to bad, in a short period of time, with multiple problems arising. I often compare it to buses, as no problems for a while, then before you know it, many turn up in quick succession. The real problem with this scenario, is not resolving a problem before the next, as the overall pressure then mounts.
Take my last twelve hours…..
In the last 12 hours I’ve had six different issues, and that includes fitting in a night’s sleep! Sounds impossible?
Anti-social neighbour issues until 11:30pm last night. Issues with a client via email, and four technical problems, including two bizarre, one a surprise and the forth just bad luck!
I went to sleep having experienced problems and woke up, and experienced more problems. This is all on to of it being a client deadline week, with an invoice to send towards the end.
I don’t let problems hang-around, and will decide on how to handle an issue quickly.
So how am I going to handle all this? Well alas I can’t share some solutions and actions with you. Some issues I will resolve, some perhaps delay resolving and decide to side-stick. It is important not to be derailed from larger more important targets.
I try to use resources at hand to resolve problems, without occurring costs.
It is important to well-being that problems are addressed, actioned on and resolved, but also sometimes issues should be side-stepped! Why side-stepped? For example a problem, might really not need to be addressed, and should be avoided, as it takes up too much time, energy and hassle.
Not all problems need addressing or handling in the traditional way.
I will write an update later on how I moved forward. I’m not going to lie, and yes multiple issues can make me feel down, which is understandable, but it is important to move forward. I feel currently that I am on a roll, so I will bounce back quickly and move forward, and that I am definitely sure of.
Update: Not even 9am and two problems have been resolved, two side-stepped, one requires a long-term solution which I’ve started to implement, and the sixth I’m looking to resolve shortly with the help of others, whilst in the meantime I ease the stress of the situation, by implementing thinking outside of the box.
Six issues was pretty extreme, but there is a reason I believe how that can currently occur, which I am also addressing. The important thing is, that I addressed the issues, and even though not all are resolved, I’m moving forward, to make sure I hit my client deadline.
