Why I don't weight myself too often

In the past I used to weigh myself too much, and often I would see progress before my very eyes, but that process of weighing became an unhealthy addiction. All too often though I would stand upon the scales, but alas sometimes there would be no change or even an increase in weight.

In a sense those scales became a happiness metre, with weight coming off resulting in an improved happiness, and weight not off meaning sadness, with no movement sometimes resulting in not determination, but sadness or frustration instead.

The reality became obvious, and I was weighing myself too much. It then went to the other extreme when I didn’t weigh myself enough! Not looking at the scales, I believe in some part contributed to me losing focus.

A balance is required and now I’m going to weigh myself every Saturday morning, with the understanding that the weight loss, doesn’t need to be massive, even at times none at all or perhaps some back on, but the very process of monitoring should help with my focus.

I also measure my waist at the same time, and then note down both details in a spreadsheet. Being able to look back at the statistics gives me a greater understanding of my efforts, but at the same time not standing on those scales too often, hopefully means I will stay on track with my efforts.

Do you weigh yourself? Let me know you thoughts.
